What is a Dermatologist?
Dermatology is the branch of Medicine that is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the skin, hair, nails and adjacent mucous membranes. A dermatologist is the doctor who has been trained to identify and treat these conditions. Dermatologists also treat cosmetic disorders of the skin, including acne, hair loss, scars, and the skin changes associated with the aging process. Some dermatologists perform cosmetic work such as botox and collagen injections and perform eyelid surgery and liposuction.

Fleshy papules that are found in both men and women. They commonly occur in skin folds, under arms, and neck areas. They are usually asymptomatic if undisturbed. Some insurance plans cover removal if Medical necessity is met, otherwise removal is considered to be cosmetic.
Benign, rough lesions developed by most people at some point in their lifetime. Their appearance varies from pink to brown, flat, or raised. If they are asymptomatic and undisturbed their removal is considered cosmetic.
Permanently dilated red blood vessels on the skin. The dilated vessels on the face can be a result of many years of sun exposure, sun damage and skin type. Treatment of these vessels is considered cosmetic.

Restylane, Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast
These dermal fillers are injected into facial areas where you desire correction. They are most commonly used around the mouth and in the lips. These products are animal and allergen free, and do not require allergy testing. The use of dermal fillers is a popular cosmetic procedure.
Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL)
This system delivers high intensity, smooth, and powerful pulses of light. It greatly enhances the results of skin rejuvenation or hair removal therapy. The IPL also treats brown spots, facial spider veins, hair removal, rosacea, acne and softens superficial wrinkles. It is a simple and fast procedure. Multiple sessions are necessary for the best results. Treatments are considered cosmetic.
Spider Vein Treatments
The treatment for unsightly dark blue and purple blemishes on the legs is called sclerotherapy. The process works by injecting a specially developed solution into the veins. The veins will then collapse or close up and be absorbed by the body. Multiple sessions may be necessary for the best results. This treatment is considered cosmetic. The initial consultation is $85, and includes a test for sensitivity to the medication used in the procedure.
