What is a Family Physician?
Family physicians provide personal and comprehensive care that is not limited by age, sex, organ system or type of problem. They are trained and board certified in the care of infants, children, and adults (including geriatrics). The care provided by a family physician is based on his/her knowledge of the patient in the context of the family and the community, with an emphasis on disease prevention and wellness. If a referral is needed, the family physician can refer the patient to other specialists or caregivers. Even with a referral, however, the family physician remains the patient's health care "coordinator," preventing fragmentation of care. In addition, the family physician serves as the patient's advocate in dealing with other Medical professionals, third party payers, employers and others. Click to see our family physicians.
